ROCKINGHAM — Downtown streets will be lined with craft vendors and artists Thursday for the October installment of Affair on the Square.

The twice-annual event, sponsored by the Rockingham Downtown Corporation, is an “evening sidewalk social event with restaurants, merchants, artists, exhibitors and live music,” according to Sharon Nichols, of the group’s events committee.

Simply Chic Boutique, Helms Jewelers and Willow Tree Gifts will offer discounts or drawings for gift certificates or merchandise and Henry’s Uptown Café and Pattan’s Downtown Grille, she said.

Nichols suggested that patrons could have dinner at one restaurant, then stroll and shop the sidewalks to enjoy dessert or drinks at the other.

Eric “EROC” Whitfiled returns to the event as DJ and will be set up near Harrington Square.

As the street-side sights and sounds settle down, Eddie Brown and Nick Allen will be performing an acoustic set at Hudson Brothers Deli.

“It really is a social event for the community as well as a fun evening to shop,” Nichols said.

Rainy weather has plagued Affair on the Square since its inception in May of 2016, but shouldn’t be a problem this year.

Forecasters with the National Weather Service are calling for clear skies and a high temperature just under 80 degrees.
