DOBBINS HEIGHTS — The town’s mayor and two city council members will retain their respective seats following Tuesday’s election.
According to records with the Richmond County Board of Elections, Mayor Antonio Blue received 41 votes in his uncontested race. There were also two write-in votes.
In the contest for town council, Revonna Magee received 41 votes and Mary Ann Gibson garnered 37.
Records show there were two write-in votes in that race, as well, in addition to six under votes.
Of the town’s 452 registered voters, only 43 (9.51%) cast their ballots — 33 on election day and 10 via one-stop early voting. There were no absentee or provisional ballots in the election.
Election results are unofficial until canvassing.
Elections for all other municipalities — Ellerbe, Hamlet, Hoffman, Norman and Rockingham — will be Nov. 7.
Hoffman Mayor Tommy Hart never filed for re-election, despite the board extending the filing period for that race by five days. However, two candidates — Karla Bostick and James Edward Jasper Jr. — filed to run for that seat, according to the BOE.
All five Hoffman Town Council members — Ricardo Anderson, Keyona Jones, Rory Kevin Jones, Daniel Kelly and Cynthia Northcutt — filed for re-election the last two days of the period back in July.
All seats in Hoffman are two-year, non-staggered terms.
Amy Guinn is challenging current Hamlet Mayor Bill Bayless; and Raymond Mills is eyeing one of the three council seats currently held by Oscar Sellers, Maurice Stuart and Abbie Covington.
In Rockingham, Jeffrey Benson and Holly Littlefield Howe are both vying for City Council seats currently held by Steve Morris, Bennett Deane and Gene Willard.
Like Hart, Morris decided not to run again after years of public service.

Rockingham Mayor John Hutchinson, who won against Morris in 2021, is running unopposed.
Other municipal candidates running unopposed are: Norman Mayor Tonia Collins and council members Stephen Cranford, Nancy Paxton and Terry Parsons; and Ellerbe Mayor Brenda Capel and council members Jeremy McKenzie and John Sears Jr.
Early voting begins Oct. 19 and runs through Nov. 3 at the N.C. Cooperative Extension office in Rockingham.
A photo ID is required to vote.
