ROCKINGHAM — A book signing and crafting demonstration are on tap to take place Saturday at IncSpace.

Local author Roland J. Beckerman will be signing copies of “Seeking Justice: Courtroom Drama in a Medical Malpractice Setting” from 10 a.m.-noon at the Speckled Paw.

According to the book’s description, it’s a fictionalized account — with names changed — of the author’s experience with a life-changing mistake by a surgeon.

The reader will follow the journey of the main character from the onset of the illness to the surgery “that went off the rails of normalcy,” to the effects on the family and the trial that followed.

During the same time, Art Wonders Gallery will host art and craft demonstrations to include quilting, Native American beading, arrowhead making and clay carving.

Both events are open to the public.

IncSpace is located at 115 S. Lawrence St., Rockingham.

Earlier in the day, Richmond County Rescue Squad will be hosting a pancake breakfast from 7 a.m. to noon at the base on Rockingham Road.

Plates include two pancakes, scrambled eggs, bacon or sausage, grits and a choice of coffee, orange juice or water for $5.

The rescue squad gets $12,000 from the county each year, as well as quarterly contributions from the United Way of Richmond County. All other funds are raised by the department, including its annual barbecue sale.

The squad also sells concessions at the professional wrestling matches hosted at the base, making $200-$300 per event.
