BREAKING NEWS: Suspect Arrested in Mother/Unborn Child Murder

SOUTHERN PINES – The Southern Pines Police Department made an arrest on Thursday, April 12th, in conjunction with the murder of an 18 year-old mother-to-be and her unborn child.

 

Brian Lovon Little, 18, of Robin Covington Road in Rockingham, was taken into custody without incident.

The murder occurred Sunday evening off of South Ganies Street in Southern Pines.

Aiyonna Clarice Barret, 18, of Sanford was found dead in a vehicle shortly after 8:00 p.m..

At the time of her death, Ms. Barrett was pregnant with a “full term” unborn child.

The child died as a result of the death of its mother.

Little is being held without bond pending an initial appearance hearing.

As is customary in such cases with an ongoing investigation of this nature, the police have released no further details.
