BRIEFS: Bowlers, sponsors sought; library collecting bottles; masons selling dinner plates; cabaret slated

ROCKINGHAM — Richmond County Special Olympics is still looking for bowling teams, as well as lane sponsors, corporate sponsors and door-prize sponsors for its upcoming bowling tournament.

The tournament is scheduled for Monday, March 25 at Strikers Bowling Alley.

All proceeds will go toward helping the organization put on games for the county’s Special Olympics athletes.

The spring games are coming up later this year and the Special Olympics bowling tournament was held earlier this month.

HAMLET — The Hamlet Public Library is collecting 2-liter bottles for its summer reading program.

The library is attempting to collect 300 bottles.

You can donate them by dropping them off at the front desk of the library, 302 Main St.

 

The Hamlet Masonic Lodge will be holding its fourth annual homemade chicken ‘n’ dumplin’ plate sale from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, March 22.

The lodge’s fundraiser will be held at 307 Main St.

Deliveries can be made for orders of five or more plates.

The J.W. Mask Jr. Alumni Chapter is sponsoring a Spring Cabaret from 8 p.m. to midnight March 27.

The event will be held at the East Hamlet Community Center, 155 Laurel St.

Tickets are $10 and the event is BYOB.
