Car catches fire on U.S. 1 near Hoffman

The Hoffman Fire Department responds to a vehicle on fire on U.S. 1 Tuesday afternoon.

HOFFMAN — Traffic on U.S. 1 slowed to a crawl Tuesday afternoon after a car caught fire.

A passerby told the RO that the car was in the southbound lane in the Hoffman area.

Hoffman Fire Chief Frank McKay did not have any information at the time when called about the incident.

The N.C. State Highway Patrol Troop H communications office in Monroe said no troopers responded to the fire.
