ROCKINGHAM – Friday, September 7, was the Chamber of Commerce First Friday Lunch at Zaxby’s in Rockingham.   The emphasis of the First Friday Lunch is to spend dollars at a local restaurant and give the Chamber members a relaxed atmosphere where they can network.

It was also the going away lunch for Seth Allen, whose position for the last three years has been communications/marketing at the Chamber.  Seth is moving on to Pee Dee Electric in the Wadesboro office, where he will be their communications specialist.  Seth brought a lot of personality and new, tech savvy ideas to the Chamber during his tenure and he will be missed.

One of the topics of discussion was the upcoming 4th annual Hoptoberfest.  Scheduled for the first Saturday in October at 4:00 p.m. in the TriCity Shopping Center, ticket sales have been brisk this year, according to Neil Robinette.  Neil is the Chair for the Hoptoberfest planning committee and states “everything is clicking” in regards to how plans are going for the event.

“Men of Distinction” is the band for the evening, and according to Robinette, they are a “good party band and really engage the crowd “during their performance.

The popular wing contest will be held again this year with ten entrants signed up and room for two more.  As in past years, Perdue will provide the wings for the contestants to season and cook to perfection for trophies and prize money.

As the name implies, there will be beer associated with the day.  Many of the same craft breweries that have attended in past years will be back.  There will also be a tap truck with 18 kegs onsite.

Tickets are still available and can be purchased at the website www.eventbrite.com.  Contact the Chamber of Commerce at (910) 895-9058 with any questions.
