The Richmond County Chamber of Commerce Nominating Committee is now seeking nominations for the 2018 board of directors. Four board seats with three-year terms each are now open. Board Chairman Chuck Cobb has appointed board member Ken Hartley of Therafirm, as the Committee Chair. Serving with Hartley on this year’s nominating committee are: Neil Robinette of Tri-City, Kenny Melvin of Farm Bureau and, Terry Lewis of Maness Tire, Bruce Hamilton of Duke Energy and Chris Sachs of Sachs Enterprises.
The Chamber Nominating Committee will hold their first meeting on Wednesday, August 30, 2017, at 8:00 am at Henry’s Uptown Cafe located at 118 South Hancock Street in Rockingham.
The purpose of this meeting as prescribed by the by-laws is to review suggested nominees for the position of Director for the Richmond County Chamber of Commerce. The committee will take into consideration the following divisions: Merchandising (Retail and Wholesale), Manufacturing, and Service (including professionals). Nominees may be nominated from all geographic areas of Richmond County. During the September board meeting, the Nominating Committee shall present a slate consisting of a minimum of five (5) candidates to replace the retiring directors.
The committee will select new director nominees as stated in the Richmond County Chamber of Commerce By-Laws:
- Any member in good standing may submit one or more nominations.
- Candidates to serve on the board must be members in good standing.
- Membership will be notified upon receipt of the report from the nominating committee.
- Each new director will serve a three-year term beginning January 1, 2018.
- Nominations must be submitted in writing.
- Nominations must be received by Tuesday, August 29,2017.
