Charlotte man charged in Myrtle Beach shooting involving Richmond County residents

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — Another suspect has been charged in a weekend shooting that resulted in the arrest of two Richmond County residents.

According to Myrtle Beach Jail records, 24-year-old Willie Isiah Arthur Duffy, of Charlotte, is charged with 10 counts of assault/attempted murder and one count each of: discharging firearms into a dwelling; possession of a weapon during a violent crime; and unlawful carrying of a pistol.

He is currently being held without bond.

Duffy is the sixth suspect charged in a shooting alleged to have occurred on the third floor of the Happy Holiday Motel in Myrtle Beach just after 3 a.m. June 13.

Three people were reportedly shot and one firearm was recovered, according to police.

A spokesman for the Myrtle Beach Police Department confirms Duffy was one of the individuals who was injured.

The father of one of the Richmond County suspects tells the RO that 19-year-old Cody Harding was shot in the leg. There has been no confirmation on the identity of the third person injured.

Harding is charged with possession of a stolen handgun and simple possession of marijuana.

Bryson Lee Pack, 18, of Rockingham, is charged with attempted murder, possession of a weapon during violent crime and resisting arrest.

The department also charged three juveniles from North Carolina with loitering for harmful purposes, minor in possession of a handgun and possession of a stolen handgun.

Police said they could not identify the county the juveniles are from.

Pack and Harding are scheduled to appear in court Aug. 13. There is not yet a date listed for Duffy.

Harding and Pack have been transferred from the Myrtle Beach Jail to the J. Reuben Long Detention Center.

Harding is being held under a $615 cash bond on the drug charge and a $15,000 bond on the weapons charge.

Pack is being held without bond on the attempted murder charge; a $10,000 bond on the weapons charge; and a $464 bond on the resisting charge.

The status of the juveniles is unknown.

South Carolina court records show Duffy, who had a Marshville address at the time, pleaded guilty in 2017 to damaging or tampering with a vehicle in Myrtle Beach Municipal Court.

Last year, Duffy was convicted of speeding more than 25 mph over the speed limit and driving without a license in Marlboro County, South Carolina.

North Carolina court records show Duffy has the following pending misdemeanor charges in Mecklenburg County: simple possession of a Schedule VI controlled substance (marijuana); possession of marijuana paraphernalia;  second-degree trespassing; and resisting a public officer. 

Duffy has no prior criminal convictions in this state, according to records with the N.C. Department of Public Safety Division of Adult Correction.

Harding is currently facing the following charges in Richmond County: first-degree statutory sex offense; statutory rape of a child under the age of 15; indecent liberties with a child; conspiracy to commit breaking and entering of a building and larceny; breaking and entering; larceny after breaking and entering; and larceny of a firearm.

Pack is currently serving a 36-month suspended sentence following a February conviction in Richmond County on four counts of felony breaking and entering, according to state records.

Records show both Harding and Pack were convicted in Scotland County of misdemeanor charges of breaking and entering, larceny and injury to real property — Harding in May and Pack in July 2019.

All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
