ROCKINGHAM – Richmond County will soon welcome a unique home, garden, and gift shop, located next door to Belk in Richmond Plaza. Christie’s will hold its grand opening on Tuesday, October 3, 2017.
With the opening of Christie’s, owner Christie Padgett is seeing her dream of 25 years come to fruition. Padgett is excited about owning her own shop and says her husband, Joel, has been very supportive as they have worked to make her dream come true.
Christie’s offers several select lines of products, many chosen not only for their quality but also for the philanthropic nature of the suppliers of her products. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of a line of mugs called Sips is donated to drill wells for water in Uganda. From each candle sold from The Sandhills Collection, $1 is donated to a local food bank.
Padgett’s belief in the importance of supporting small businesses has led her to partner with local vendors. Among those is local artist Shawn Weigman.
“Shawn is very talented and had previously sold her work online,” Padgett said. “Christie’s will be the first retail store selling her products.”
In addition, the store will be carrying some of Weigman’s monogrammed ornaments. Christie’s will also carry a line of all-soy candles by Southern Elegance. These candles are handcrafted by an individual from Raeford, N.C.
The all-natural Farmhouse Fresh line of face and body products, Padgett states, “is actually the same line used at The Spa At Pinehurst.” Christie’s will also carry the Duplin line of wines (nonalcoholic version), slushie mixers, salad dressings, grilling sauces, salsa, relish, and wine jellies.
Christie’s will also carry other unique accessories, décor, and gifts such as serving dishes and platters with seasonal mini-accessories, birdhouses made from birdseed, and much more.
“If you’re looking for something special and unique, you should be able to find it here,” Padgett said. “Our goal is to find things you can’t find everywhere else.”
Christy’s will be offering free wrap for anything purchased in-store and, for a small fee, will put together gift baskets. Padgett will also create floral arrangements for customers or, likewise, customers are welcome to come in and make their own.
Padgett supports the revitalization she has observed in Richmond County. Of her store’s location, Padgett says, “The Robinettes have put so much work into rejuvenating this shopping center and attracting new business.”
The Padgetts want to give back to the community, as they want to, “give the community a place to shop and find items without having to drive to another county.”
Christie invites everyone to come check out her shop on October 3.
Christie’s will be open Tuesday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. During the months of November and December the store will be open six days a week.
