Cordova Firefighters Respond to Overnight Car Fire in Frigid Temperatures

CORDOVA – Temperatures were well below freezing when firefighters from Cordova Fire Rescue received the page for a vehicle fire late Thursday night.

Around 11:20 p.m. firefighters responded to a red compact car on Highway 1 South just past Hamer Mill Road. Upon arrival the small vehicle was fully engulfed in flames. Its two occupants escaped with no injuries, and after explaining to authorities where the fire started, they left the scene.

After extinguishing the fire, Deputy Chief Jeremey Chance notified Emergency Communications to have a wrecker dispatched to the scene to remove the vehicle from the roadside. No one was harmed as a result of the vehicle fire, and no other damages have been reported.
