CORRECTION: Highway Patrol sending 1 1st sergeant to Hamlet

HAMLET― Only one first sergeant is coming to the local Highway Patrol station, contrary to information sent with a press release.

1st Sgt. Joel Williams is being transferred from Rutherford County to Richmond County, according to Karen Weatherford, secretary for Troop H2.

Using information provided by the N.C. State Highway Patrol, the Richmond Observer previously reported that 1st Sgt. R.G. Hogue Jr. was transferring from Troop H1 in Gaston County to Richmond County.

However, Weatherford said it was the opposite and that he was transferring from Richmond to the station in Gaston.
