HAMLET — Four students graduated from the Detention Officer Certification class at Richmond Community College on Wednesday, April 3.

Individuals who take employment at a detention facility have a year to earn their state certification through the Detention Officer Certification Course. This is a 174-hour course that takes about 5 weeks to complete. Upon completion of the course, the new detention officer will be eligible to be certified as a detention officer in North Carolina.

Completing the course were Drikeda S. Lathon from the Hoke County Detention Center, Jonathan Nails Jr. and Anquillia D. Knox from the Richmond County Detention Center, and James A. Kelley from the Scotland County Detention Center.

Haywood for leading this class and providing great instruction for this program.”
