Domestic Violence Leads to Shooting, Murder Charges

ROCKINGHAM – On October 11, the Richmond County Sheriff’s office received a call of a possible gunshot victim on Sam Richardson Road in Rockingham.

When deputies arrived, they found two females with gunshot wounds. 

Both were transported by EMS to First Health Richmond where they were evaluated and sent on to separate trauma centers.

The victims were identified as Misty Martinez of Raeford, NC and Raina Lane Black. 

Martinez is still undergoing treatment. 

Black did not survive her gunshot wound.

During the investigation by officers, it was determined a domestic situation had taken place which escalated to verbal confrontation of the three. 

Podobinski used a hand gun and fired shots at the victims.

Charged in the incident was Ashley Ann Podobinski, 25, of Sam Richardson Road. 

Murder and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury were the two charges.

Podobinski was arrested and taken to the Richmond County Jail.

A secured bond of $250,000 was set for the AWDWWITKISI.

As is the norm, there was no bond set for the murder charge. 

All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
