ROCKINGHAM — The 2021 schedule for Rockingham Speedway and Entertainment Complex continues to fill up.

Trucks Gone Wild has teamed up with ProMark Entertainment and the speedway to bring the East Coast Truck Jeep & Offroad Festival to the legendary track Oct. 7-10, according to the event website.

“There’s going to be so many things to do,” said Justin Jones, vice president of operations for the speedway.

An event map shows the speedway sectioned out for the different aspects of the festival.

The festival will include a custom and lifted truck show, and stereo and sound competition, a swap meet in the garages, a burnout competition, 4×4 tug of war — and racing.

The FASTruck showdown will feature a mix of entries from different truck racing series. According to the event description, each feature will be 25 laps with the top 10 trucks advancing to the 25-lap main event.

There are also plans for a Jeep obstacle course at the Little Rock.

This event is the latest in a series of recent announcements at the speedway following several false starts since the track was purchased in August of 2018.

The inaugural First Responders Royale paintball tournament from Guardians Entertainment is scheduled for June 26, with proceeds going toward the Wounded Warrior Project and the First Responders Foundation.

Jones said the speedway has every weekend in July booked, including the Monster Tuckz Mayhem Tour Fourth of July weekend, Seat Time Racing School on July 24 and the Gear’d Up Car show for July 31, featuring late model and exotic cars in the infield and at the Little Rock.

MB Drift, which began its 2021 season in February still has two competitive events (June and August), its Fall Matsuri in October, as well as events in July, September and November.

Officials with the CARS Tour announced last week that its race, originally slated for March, has been rescheduled for Nov. 6.

“When I say we’re bringing life back to the Rock, we’re definitely bringing life back to the Rock,” Jones said. “I want people in Richmond County and surrounding communities … on Wednesday and Thursday night to say, “Hey, what’s going on at the Rock?’”

The speedway is in the process of renovating both its website — with plans for an app for fans to keep up with upcoming events — and the facility.

While many places are struggling to find help, Jones said part of what’s helping is the passion people have in the community for the track.

Jones said he has hired seven employees to help with those renovations and has received messages from people wanting to volunteer their time to help with painting and other upgrades, adding that he is planning to have a volunteer day for folks to come out and put in some work.

“We’re bringing tax money to the county, we’re bringing jobs to the county,” Jones said. “We’re doing everything we can to bring life to the track and money to the county, and entertainment to the county as well.”
