ROCKINGHAM — The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office got a special lunch delivery Wednesday.
Christian Liles and Kenny Melvin from the Richmond County Farm Bureau office partnered with the Holiday Restaurant to provide cheeseburgers with all the toppings, french fries and drinks to the deputies.
Liles, agency manager, said Southern Farm Bureau wanted agencies to show appreciation to first responders “and what they’re doing within their communities.”
She added that they were inspired by the meal tickets to The Grille handed out to medical workers this week by Carolina Realty Company Southeast.
Last Friday, The Grille owner Marsha Reynolds donated 200 plates to FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital-Richmond in cooperation with Feed the Fight Sandhills.
“We’d just like to thank them,” said Sheriff James Clemmons. “It’s a great honor to have members of our community, members of our business community and our churches, those are the folks who have been maneuvering throughout our county feeding first responders and our heroes at the hospitals.”
Clemmons said Farm Bureau was the second business to provide lunch to his office and that two churches have also donated meals during the pandemic.
“We’re just delighted that folks thought enough of us to fix lunch for us and we really appreciate everything that they’re doing,” Clemmons added. “It’s always great when the community, the churches can come together with law enforcement and make life better. And this is one of those days that puts a smile on all of our faces and we are really indebted to those who look after us.”
Liles said Farm Bureau plans to do the same for the Rockingham and Hamlet police departments.
