HAMLET — Two Richmond County fire departments responded to a mobile home fire in East Rockingham late Sunday morning.

The East Rockingham Fire Department was dispatched to the fire on Maggie Drive around 11:45 a.m., according to Chief Bill Bayless. Cordova Fire and Rescue also responded.

There were two adults and two children at the home at the time, he said.

One of the adults said he was walking from the front of the home to the back bedroom and saw smoke, so they called 911, according to Bayless.

The home is unlivable, with the whole back end burned and the rest of the inside receiving smoke and heat damage, Bayless said.

Because of the heat, Bayless said firefighters were given rest and plenty of fluids while trying to put out the blaze.

The cause of the fire is undetermined.

No injuries were reported.

The American Red Cross was called in to assist the family.
