FirstHealth’s annual Martin Luther King Jr. tribute heading online for 2021

PINEHURST — FirstHealth of the Carolinas will honor the life and legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. on Jan. 18, 2021, with a virtual celebration.

The COVID-safe event will take place at 12 p.m. on FirstHealth’s Facebook page. A Facebook account isn’t needed to view the content, and there will be several opportunities to hear from leaders at FirstHealth about what the day means to them.

FirstHealth CEO Mickey Foster will begin the festivities, and the keynote address will be given by Dr. Shayna Jones, a FirstHealth-Pinehurst Surgical Clinic OB/GYN.

Children from FirstHealth’s Child Development Center will also take part in the celebration.

Brian Canfield, FirstHealth’s Chief Operating Officer and one of the organizers of the event, said he’s looking forward to it despite not being able to gather in person.

“This event is always one of the highlights of the year, so we’re thankful to move it to a digital platform,” he said. “We hope the community will join us and share what ‘I Have A Dream’ means to them in 2021 and beyond.”
