Food Bank announces new director of Regional Development in Sandhills

In support of its mission to nourish people, build solutions, and empower communities, the Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina today announced Teresa Dew Kelly as the new director of Regional Development for the Sandhills Branch.

The Director of Regional Development will oversee fundraising efforts, community engagement, and seek collaborations to better serve our neighbors in the Sandhills Branch service area (Lee, Moore, Richmond, and Scotland counties).

“We’re thrilled to have Teresa join the Food Bank team,” said Ashley McCumber, president & CEO of the Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina. “Her experience and longtime service will support our focus on nourishing people and building solutions to ultimately end hunger in central and eastern North Carolina.”

Kelly most recently served as the executive director of one of the Food Bank’s largest partner agencies, Christians United Outreach Center in Lee County, where she helped build the organization over 14 years. She is an elected official in her home community of Broadway, North Carolina.

“I am excited to join the Food Bank staff and working to ensure the Food Bank’s vision of no one going hungry is met in the Sandhills community,” said Kelly.

The Sandhills Branch of the Food Bank serves Lee, Moore, Richmond, and Scotland counties. In those counties, 31,820 people are living in food insecure households. Last year, the Sandhills Branch distributed the equivalent of 9.4 million meals.
