Gulledge presents 3 Richmond County deputies with law enforcement certificates

Sheriff Mark Gulledge presents Lt. Clyde Smith with his Advanced Law Enforcement certificate.

ROCKINGHAM — On Thursday, Oct. 14, 2021, Sheriff Mark Gulledge presented Lt. Clyde Smith with his Advanced Law Enforcement certificate and lapel pin. Lt. Smith earned this certificate from the North Carolina Sheriff’s Training and Standards Commission. This certificate is awarded as the highest achievable award presented to North Carolina law enforcement officers. The award consists of three different categories combined: years of service; college education; and law enforcement training. Lt. Smith has been in law enforcement since 2002 and currently serves in the Civil Division. 

Gulledge presented Deputy Chris Smith with his Intermediate Law Enforcement Certificate from the North Carolina Sheriff’s Training and Standards Commission. This award also consists of the three categories. Deputy Smith as been in law enforcement since 2013 and currently serves as a patrol deputy in the Patrol Division.

Gulledge presented Detective Dustin McQueen with his Certified Criminal Investigator Certificate from the North Carolina Justice Academy. This award consists of more than 500 hours of investigative training such as death investigation, child death investigation, interview and interrogation, sexual assault investigation, etc.. Detective McQueen has been in law enforcement since 2013 and currently serves as an investigator in the Criminal Investigations Division.

“It was an honor to present these deputies with these certificates of accomplishment and recognize them for their hard work and dedication. It not only betters themselves, but the sheriff’s office as a whole. Congratulations to each one of them and thank you for your desire to be the best,” said Gulledge.
