HAMLET — A man police were looking for in connection to a home break-in was arrested by deputies Wednesday.
According to the Hamlet Police Department, investigators received a tip through Richmond County Crime Stoppers that 31-year-old James Dwight “Trey” Russell III was at a home in Cordova.
Deputies with the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office checked it out and arrested him, investigators say.
Russell and Alston Blake Croke are accused of breaking into a Hyland Avenue home on Dec. 15, 2019 and stealing two televisions, an Xbox gaming system and a set of gaming headphones.
Police say one television has been recovered, so far.
Croke was arrested Dec. 27 by the HPD and later released from the Richmond County Jail.
Russell was booked just before 10 p.m. Wednesday.
They are both charged with one felony count each of breaking and entering and larceny after breaking and entering and one misdemeanor court of injury to real property.
Russell is also charged with five counts of failure to appear on a misdemeanor, according to jail records.
Croke is scheduled to appear in court Feb. 6; Russell’s court date has not yet been publicly listed online.
Russell was convicted of misdemeanor larceny in 2011, according to records with the N.C. Department of Public Safety Division of Adult Correction.
In 2017, he was convicted in Stanly County of assault with a deadly weapon.
He received probation in both cases.
All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
