HAMLET — Residents heading south on N.C. 177 this morning and the rest of the day will have to pick a different route.
City Manager Jonathan Blanton issued a statement saying the road will be closed starting at 8 a.m. Monday at the Charlotte Street intersection for a sewer main replacement.

“Local traffic must utilize alternate routes and large trucks must follow detour routes,” he said.
The road closure is expected to be in effect for 24 hours.
