HAMLET — A man was killed this weekend after running his motorcycle off the road and hitting a tree.
According to the N.C. State Highway Patrol, 60-year-old Lee Robinson of Hamlet was riding east on County Home Road around 9:50 Saturday night when he ran off the road and hit a tree. The collision with the tree caused him to be thrown from the bike and Robinson died on impact.

Troopers say speed and alcohol were contributing factors to the fatal crash.
Robinson’s estimated speed before the wreck was 65 mph in a 45 mph zone, according to troopers.
