HAMLET — Police are encouraging residents to take proactive steps to prevent becoming victims of theft.
The Hamlet Police Department posted to its Facebook page Thursday afternoon, saying there have been “several complaints of an unknown suspect entering vehicles throughout the City.”

The post also included the 9PM Routine:
- Remove valuables from vehicles
- Lock vehicle doors
- Close the garage door (if you have one)
- Close and lock all exterior doors
- Turn on exterior light
Residents who witness suspicious activity are encouraged to report it by calling 911, the HPD at 910-582-2551, or Richmond County Crime Stoppers at 910-997-5454.
