Hamlet Police Department Makes Two Arrests During Different Traffic Stops

HAMLET – The Hamlet Police Department reported on two arrests from last week. The first of these arrests was conducted on Friday, February 2, at approximately 2:55 p.m. near 327 East Hamlet Avenue.

Bradley Lawrence Grady Archer, 29, of 127 Fifth Street, Ellerbe, was a passenger in a vehicle that was subjected to a traffic stop. 

During the ensuing inquiry it was discovered that an outstanding order for arrest was existent for Archer.  This order for arrest had been issued on Aug. 4, 2017, subsequent to a charge of misdemeanor larceny.

Consequent to his failure to provide the officer with correct information regarding his true name, Archer was also charged with misdemeanor resisting, delaying and obstructing an officer.

Archer was transported to the Magistrate’s Office where a District Court trial date was set for March 8.  Archer is being held in the Richmond County Jail under a secured bond of $6,000.

The second of HPD’s reported arrests was conducted at approximately 8:57 p.m. the same day on Wilmington Street.

Damion Mosley, 21, of 230 McGirt Road, Hamlet, was operating a vehicle that was also pulled over during a traffic stop. 

During HPD’s inquiry and subsequent search of the vehicle, it was discovered that a substantial amount of a controlled substance was being transported in the vehicle.  Mosley was consequently charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver a controlled substance, maintaining and operating a motor vehicle for the purpose of selling and delivering a controlled substance, and possession of a stolen firearm.

Mosley was transported to the Magistrate’s Office where a District Court trial date was set for February 15.  Mosley is being held in the Richmond County Jail under a secured bond of $15,000.

All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
