HAMLET — Police are looking for the individual or individuals responsible for shooting into two homes on the same street.

Two residents of Whitlock Street on Tuesday reported property damage to their homes from gunfire, according to incident reports from the Hamlet Police Department.

One home suffered an estimated $1,100 in damage from bullets hitting the vinyl siding and two cabinets.  The other has an estimated $150 in damage due to bullet holes in a window and door.

The victim of the second home told police she was sleeping when she heard six or seven gunshots outside around 3:25 a.m. She said stayed in bed with her daughter the rest of the night because they were scared.

When she woke up, the victim found a bullet hole in the back of the house and saw it had entered the back window and gone through the front door.
