Hamlet Police seek attempted burglary suspect

Jewarren Rush

HAMLET — Police are asking the public’s help in finding a man wanted on multiple charges in the Sandhills.

The Hamlet Police Department on Friday morning posted mugshots of 26-year-old Jewarren Rush, who is wanted on charges of attempted first-degree burglary and injury to real property in connection to an incident earlier this month. Investigators say Rush also has outstanding warrants from other area departments, including in Cumberland County.

Rush, who has an address listed in Fayetteville, is also listed as a probation or parole absconder by the N.C. Department of Public Safety Division of Adult Correction.

State records show Rush was released from prison in March 2016 after serving consecutive sentences for possession of stolen goods and breaking and entering motor vehicles. He was intentionally given probation for those convictions in Richmond County, but records show his probation was revoked in Cumberland County.

Anyone with information on Rush’s whereabouts is encouraged to contact the Hamlet Police Department at 901-582-2551, Richmond County Crime Stoppers at 910-997-5454 or the Department of Public Safety at 1-866-646-0024.

All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
