HAMLET — For the fourth time in one day, police turned to social media in hopes of identifying a suspect.

Early Thursday evening, the Hamlet Police Department posted security video of a break-in at Dollar General. (NOTE: The video appears at the bottom of this post.)

Capt. Randy Dover said the suspect gained entry into the discount retail store around 2:30 a.m. Wednesday by breaking several windows near the front door.

The video appears to show the suspect wearing a red long-sleeved shirt, grey pants with a black stripe and an what looks like an orange shirt over their head to conceal their identity.

While investigators are still waiting on a full inventory of what was stolen, Dover said they are aware of candy, batteries and cellphones being taken from the store.

Dover said the video was posted in hopes someone might recognize the suspect’s clothing or may have seen the suspect trying to sell the stolen goods.

Earlier in the day, the department posted photos of a man and woman suspected of shoplifting from Family Dollar and photos of another man accused of exposing himself to a store employee.

Anyone with information is encouraged to call Detective Corey Wilson at 910-582-2551 or Richmond County Crime Stoppers at 910-997-5454.
