Hamlet Police seek two suspects

Investigators with the Hamlet Police Department are asking the public's help in locating Jessica Ennis and an unknown man for alleged crimes.

HAMLET — Police are once again turning to social media to help locate two suspects.

On Thursday, the Hamlet Police Department posted on its Facebook page a mug shot of 32-year-old Jessica Ennis.

Ennis is wanted on for breaking and entering a vehicle and several counts of misdemeanor larceny. Investigators say there is also an order for her arrest for failing to appear in court.

According to police, she is known to hang out in East Rockingham.

Records with the N.C. Department of Public Safety Division of Adult Correction show in 2005 Ennis was convicted of misdemeanor forgery in Richmond County and identity theft in Moore County and given probation.

However, that probation was revoked and she spent just more than a month behind bars when convicted of financial card in Moore County.

Investigators are also trying to identify a man accused of running “flim-flam” scams between Hamlet and Charlotte.

According to police, a “flim-flam” scam is where a suspect goes into a store to get change and makes several purchases in a way that confuses the clerk and they leave with more money that what they came in with.

Investigators say he recently pulled such a scam at the Food Lion in Hamlet on March 30 and may not be from this area.

Anyone with information on either suspect is encouraged to call Lt. Jordan at 910-582-2552 or Richmond County Crime Stoppers at 910-997-5454.

All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
