Hamlet Police Utilize Drug Dog “Edy” to Make Arrest

HAMLET – On Friday, March 2nd at approximately 10:08 p.m., Hamlet police officers on HW 177 North noticed an expired license tag on a 2018 Nissan Cube.

Subsequent to a traffic stop, the officer detected the odor of marijuana. 

Detaining the driver of the vehicle, Brymaan Lloyd Gomez, 29, of 144 Glenmore Drive in Rockingham, the officer requested that HPD’s drug dog, “Edy,” be transported to the scene.

Hamlet’s drug detection team went into action, with Edy quickly and efficiently sniffing out the hidden contraband.

Gomez was consequently arrested and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia; maintaining a vehicle for transportation of a controlled substance; felony possession of marijuana; possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine; and possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana.

It is also noted that cash in the amount of $1740 was confiscated from the vehicle as well.
