HAMLET — Only one railroad crossing will be closed next week instead of five.
Southern Commercial Development, which handles traffic control for CSX Transportation, announced Friday that a planned job in Hamlet has been canceled and only the Raleigh Street crossing will close.
Angela Nelis, COO and railroad divisional manager for SCD, said the crossing will be closed for one week starting at 6 a.m. Monday, Dec. 5.

When the job was announced in early November, five crossings were slated for work — which was scheduled to begin last week.
