CHARLOTTE – Dr. Mark Harris, senior pastor at First Baptist Church in Charlotte, announced on Monday that he will run in the special primary in March 2018 for the ninth district’s congressional seat in Congress. His opponent will once again be incumbent Congressman Robert Pittenger (NC-09), who has held the seat since 2013.
Harris previously ran for the Republican nomination for the 9th Congressional District in the special primary election in June 2016. Despite being outspent by a greater than 3 to 1 margin, Harris came within 134 votes of beating the incumbent Congressman Robert Pittenger in a three-way race.
