WALLACE, S.C. — A Democratic presidential candidate is expected to swing through the Pee Dee region this weekend.
California Sen. Kamala Harris is scheduled to appear and speak at a meet and greet Sunday, Nov. 24 at Grace Temple Church in Wallace, South Carolina.
Doors open at 1:30 p.m. and the event begins at 2, according to the campaign schedule.
Those planning to attend should RSVP here.
Harris is also slated to attend Greater St. James Missionary Baptist Church from 10:30-11 a.m. and Community of Grace Church from 11:15-11:45, according to the Marlboro County Herald-Advocate. Both churches are in Bennettsville, South Carolina.
Before being elected to the U.S. Senate, Harris worked for years as a prosecutor, according to her campaign bio. She was twice elected the district attorney for San Francisco.
Harris later became the first African American and the first woman to be elected attorney general of California and the second African American Woman to be a U.S. Senator.
The New York Times reported Wednesday that Harris was polling at 4% among the Democratic candidates, behind Pete Buttigeig (8%), Sen. Bernie Sanders (17%), Sen. Elizabeth Warren (19%) and former vice president Joe Biden (25%).
