HOFFMAN — A Richmond County town is bringing back a community gathering that’s been on hiatus for many years.
Town leaders are bringing back Hoffman Day on Saturday, Nov. 2, from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. at the town’s Recreational Complex, 106 Thompson St.
According to Councilman Daniel Kelly, the event used to be held the first Saturday in October during the ‘80s and ‘90s and was sponsored by the Beaverdam Community Center.
Kelly said Councilwoman Kyonna Jones remembered hearing her mother and grandmother talk about Hoffman Day and wanted to start it back.
The event is slated to include a DJ playing all types of music, carnival rides, bingo, a “Family Feud”-style game, as well as community and food vendors and a drone demonstration.
Kelly, who has served on the town’s governing board for many years, said there have been a lot of new people move into the town since the festival came to a halt.
“We hope to get to know our people a little more better,” Kelly said.
