HOFFMAN — A fuschia-lit Christmas tree stands near the intersection of U.S. 1 and Caddell Road following a short ceremony Monday evening.

The town of Hoffman became the fourth Richmond County municipality to get into the holiday spirit with the official lighting of its tree.

Prior to the lighting, new Mayor Karla Bostick, the members of the Town Council and the town clerk were sworn in for the upcoming year by Superior Court Judge Dawn Layton.

Bostick won the seat in last month’s election with 65% of the vote over James Edward Jasper.

Outgoing mayor Tommy Hart, who decided not to run again, was honored for his years of service to the town and he handed over the keys to Bostick.

Following the lighting, pizza was served and door prizes were given out to those in attendance.

Dobbins Heights will light its town tree on Tuesday, Dec. 5.

The Hamlet Christmas Parade of Lights will start at 6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 7.
