SOUTHERN PINES — Rep. Richard Hudson on Wednesday opened his new local office in Moore County.

The location, at 340 Commerce Ave, Suite 16, will serve as the flagship office for the 9th Congressional District, according to a press release.

The district also includes Scotland, Hoke, Lee, Chatham and Randolph counties, in addition to northwest Cumberland, western Harnett and a sliver of eastern Richmond.

Hudson, who recently moved to Southern Pines after years of living in Cabarrus County, is the first congressman to live in and operate an office in Moore County “in recent memory,” according to the release.

“As your Congressman, I am committed to delivering results for families throughout our region and providing top-notch customer service from our offices in both Washington, D.C. and North Carolina,” said Hudson. “With our new primary district office here in Southern Pines, I look forward to helping more constituents navigate federal government agencies like the VA and being accessible to hear your needs, thoughts, and concerns on key issues facing our community and nation.

“Renee, Lane, and I have made Moore County our home and are thankful for the warm welcome by the community. We plan to be here for a long time.”

The ribbon-cutting for the new office was attended by several local community leaders.

“We are really excited to have Rep. Hudson in Moore County and we look forward to working with him,” said Moore County Commissioner Jim Von Canon. “At the end of the day, Richard always does what he says he will do and we’re extremely excited to add him to our Moore County family.”

Prior to being elected, Hudson ran the offices in Concord and Rockingham when working for then-Rep. Robin Hayes.

This is the second time Richmond County (or at least part of it) has been in Hudson’s district.

The Southern Pines office will be open 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday. To schedule an appointment, call 910-910-1924.

Hudson also has offices in Fayetteville and Washington, D.C.
