ROCKINGHAM — With just T-4 days until Super Bowl LIII kicks off in Atlanta, millions of Americans are scrambling to solidify their game day plans.

From creating tantalizing lineups of appetizers and placing bets, to finding just the right “lucky” outfit to wear in support of their favorite team, it seems that everyone is getting into the Super Bowl spirit — even if it is only for the commercials (or Adam Levine’s half-time performance).

And as the biggest day in football edges closer, members of the Humane Society of Richmond County are preparing to celebrate in their own way — by hosting a Tail Gate Party.

Set for Thursday, Jan. 31 at 5:30 p.m. at Pattan’s Downtown Grille, the organization will host its second annual family friendly football-themed event.

“We are a nonprofit organization comprised of five members that work incredibly hard at finding rescues, fosters and adopters for all of the animals that are housed at the local shelter as well as animals in the community,” said event organizer Corey Davis. “We depend on all of our fundraisers and donors for our funding.

“Our goal in this event is to raise money to help take care of the animals in Richmond County.”

There are two ways to participate in this year’s Tail Gate Party.

The first way is to simply eat dinner at Pattan’s Downtown Grille Thursday night between 5:30 and 8:30 p.m. During that time, Pattan’s will be donating a percentage of the proceeds from all dine-in and take-out orders.

“This is the second year we have hosted this event at Pattan’s, and we were super excited when Tim Pattan agreed to work with us again,” said Davis.

The second way is to buy a raffle ticket to win one of four top-notch prizes that are sure to take any Super Bowl party to the next level.

Donated by Big K Gas, Swink Quality Oil, Humane Society board members and an anonymous donor, this year’s prizes include a Super Bowl party pack, an Rtic cooler, a tailgate grill and a flat-screen television as the grand prize.

Tickets for this raffle are $20 each with all proceeds going directly to the Humane Society. These funds will be used to help the organization continue providing spay/neuters and emergency vet services.

Tickets can be purchased from any Humane Society board member: Brandy Alfredson, Corey Davis, Jessie Covington, Wendi Maples or Carolyn Herndon.

“We would love for our community to come out and support our organization by joining us for a great dinner and fundraiser,” concluded Davis. “As stated earlier, all monetary donations would be greatly appreciated. We depend on our community!”
