HAMLET— Jimmy Jones of Maxton has used his recently obtained diplomas from Richmond Community College to further advance his career with Blue Scoop Buildings North America. Jones not only chose RichmondCC because of its convenient location, he also wanted to further his career, and gives RichmondCC the credit for their training, curriculum, and assistance.

“I had been working with the same company before attending RichmondCC and found out they had a tuition assistance program. They would pay me to attend school, and depending on what grade I made, they would pay a percentage” Jones said.

By taking advantage of the various tutoring services offered through the Academic Success Center, he was able to graduate with four diplomas in Electrical Systems Technology, Industrial Systems Technology, Welding and Computer Integrated Machining.

“Working full time and going to school was a balancing act. It always seemed that my company would start having us work overtime right around exam time, and I had to really hustle to get my studies done and what was required of me at work,” Jones said.

Jones spoke highly of two of his favorite instructors during his time at RichmondCC, James Medlin and Jay Wagers, who he insist are full of information and easy to understand.
