Local Business Spotlight: Broad Street Jewelry and Loan

ROCKINGHAM — In the latest edition of the RO’s exclusive “Local Business Spotlight” column, contributor Cleve Baxley meets with the owner and employees of Broad Street Jewelry and Loan.

In encouraging the successes of local small businesses, the RO uses a question-and-answer format to highlight what local businesses are doing in the community.

Below is the conversation between Baxley and Glenn Taylor, the owner of Broad Streeet Jewelry and Loan:

 

Where is Broad Street Jewelry and Loan located?

“We’re located at 801 East Broad Avenue, Suite 27 in Rockingham,” Taylor said. 

When was the business established?

“Mike Stogner started (the business) back in 1993,” Taylor noted. “And I took over this year on July 1.”

How many employees do you have?

Broad Street Jewelry and Loan currently has three employees: Dalton Jones, Allison Story and Hunter Wilkes.

What products do you sell?

“We sell an assortment of goods and products,” Taylor said. “It ranges from gold, diamonds, to all other types of jewelry.

“Broad Street also offers guns, televisions, stereos, gaming systems, and laptops,” Taylor added. “We can also order parts for people online like electronic pieces and chargers. Batteries for watches. I will sell anything I can get my hands on. We also do layaways.”

What is something your business is known for?

“I would say we are best known for customer service,” Taylor explained. “I think my customers come back because we treat everybody like family.”

What is something you would like for people to know about your business?

“In addition to selling products, we are also a pawn shop,” Taylor said. “Some people think we are just a jewelry store. We are getting into gun sales now, and we also do jewelry repair.”
