In this week’s edition of the RO’s exclusive “Local Business Spotlight” column, contributor Cleve Baxley meets with Todd Tillis, the owner and of Todd’s Computer Sales and Service.
Todd’s Computers joined the RO as an official sponsor last month. Todd’s Computers is a local business in uptown Rockingham that specializes in computer services.
In encouraging the successes of local small businesses, the RO uses a question-and-answer format to highlight what local businesses are doing in the community.
Below is the conversation between Baxley and Tillis:
What is the location of Todd’s Computers in Rockingham?
“Todd’s Computers is located in uptown Rockingham on East Washington Street,” Tillis said. “We’re right across from the old Food King building.”
When was Todd’s Computer Sales and Service established?
“Todd’s Computer Sales and Service was officially established in 2007,” Tillis said.
How did the business get started?
I played around with computers,” Tillis said. “I worked on them as a hobby, and it just got to the point where everyone was asking me to work on their computers. So it sparked the idea that I could do this as a business.”
How many employees do you have?
“I have four technicians,” Tillis noted. “And then there’s myself and my wife as well.”
What services do you provide?
“We pretty much do anything computer related,” Tillis explained. “We do cleanups, tune-ups, virus removal, upgrades and data recovery. We custom build machines for individuals and businesses.
We offer offsite backups and cloud storage,” he continued. “And we do full-service IT contracts for small local businesses.
What products do you sell?
“Todd’s Computers sells a lot of electronics,” Tillis said. “We obviously have computers, monitors, keyboards, mice, DVD drives, flash drives and cables, among other things. If we don’t have it here, we can get it for you.”
What do you enjoy most about your business?
“I enjoy helping people the most,” Tillis explained. “Whenever someone has trouble or a problem, I, as well as the other technicians, enjoy being able to get them going again where they can be productive.”
What is something your business is known for?
Plain and simple, Tillis expressed his business’ notable customer service.
Is there something about your business that people might not know?
“I would like people to know that we do have maintenance plans,” Tillis said. “It’s getting to be popular for both residential and business markets. This is for maintaining your computer and keeping it running on a regular basis; kind of like your car needs a tune-up every now and then, so does your computer. Computers are the same way.
