ROCKINGHAM – J.A. and Azalea Bolton, local husband and wife storytellers, held a book signing in the Mary Hadley Conner Leath Local History Room of Leath Memorial Library in Rockingham.
On November 13, the Boltons not only signed books for customers, but regaled them with stories of the past. The couple’s new book, “Just Passing Time Together”, as well as J.A.’s previous book, “Just Passing Time” were both offered for purchase.Â
Relatives, friends, and community members came to offer support and purchase books. For the Boltons, this was an opportunity to discuss the stories from their newest book, as well as share a few new stories with those in attendance.
Peggy Maske, a fan of the Boltons, said she came to support them.
“I’ve always enjoyed reading J.A.’s articles,” Maske said. “I bought both of the books for Christmas presents.” Â
“People can relate a lot of the stories to things they did in their own childhood,” J.A. said of his books. “I could write about new stuff but I don’t because I feel like these stories will be lost if I don’t write them down.”
Most recently, Bolton recalls participating in the Bynum Front Porch Storytelling series at the historic Bynum General Store in Pittsboro, N.C. Joining other North Carolina storytellers, Bolton noted this was a great community event.
A book review of Bolton’s previous book, Just Passing Time, was recently released in the November 2017 edition of the magazine, Outreach N.C.
