Man accused of not reporting to probation officer

ROCKINGHAM — A man on probation for a 2017 drug conviction has been listed as an absconder.

According to a Friday afternoon post on the Richmond County Crime Stoppers Facebook page, 32-year-old Thomas Brandon Leak hasn’t reported to his probation officer since last August.

Leak was convicted of selling a Schedule II controlled substance Sept. 6, 2017, according to records with the N.C. Department of Public Safety Division of Adult Correction.

The Crime Stoppers post indicates Leak has also failed to appear in court on other drug charges. However, online state court records show no pending charges or dates.

State records show Leak was first convicted on misdemeanor drug charges in 2008, but spent a month behind bars the following year when his probation was revoked.

He was also convicted in 2010 on a paraphernalia charge and the following year for failing to notify the Division of Motor Vehicles of an address change in Moore County, records show.

Anyone with information on Leak’s whereabouts is encouraged to call Crime Stoppers at 910-997-5454. Tips leading to an arrest may be eligible for a reward.

All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
