ROCKINGHAM — An alleged Richmond County vehicle thief is also facing drug charges in another county.
According to an arrest warrant, 38-year-old Alfreato Delional Bass, of Airport Road, recently stole a 2000 Chevy Tahoe.
Records show his first name spelled as “Alfreato,” “Alfreado” and “Alfreto.”
In that case, he was arrested, charged with larceny of a motor vehicle and was booked into the Richmond County Jail under a $10,000 secured bond.
Jail records show Bass is charged with a second count of larceny of a motor vehicle and possession of a stolen motor vehicle. The warrant for that offense was not available at the Richmond County Clerk of Superior Court’s office late Monday.
Records show Bass was also served with warrants out of Wake County, charging him possession of heroin and a Schedule II controlled substance.
Bass is being held under an additional $10,000 secured bond on the second stolen vehicle charge and $15,000 secured bond for the drug charges.
He was booked June 14 and was still in the jail June 23.
He is scheduled to appear in court on the Richmond County charges July 2 and the Wake County charges July 7.
Records with the N.C. Department of Public Safety Division of Adult Correction show Bass has a criminal history in the Sandhills dating back more than 20 years.
He was first convicted in 1997 of felony larceny in Hoke County. Initially given a suspended sentence, Bass’ probation was revoked the following year and he spent five months behind bars.
His next conviction was in 1999 on charges of two counts of breaking and entering vehicles and one count each of breaking and entering and possessing stolen goods in Moore County. For that, he was incarcerated for six months.
Bass went to prison for another five and half years following a 2000 conviction in Moore County for robbery with a dangerous weapon.
He was released in 2006, but convicted again in 2009 of possession of a Schedule II controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving with a revoked license in Moore County, and in 2010 of driving with a revoked license in Hoke County. He served time for those convictions as well.
Also in 2010, Bass was convicted of possession of a firearm by a felon and possession of a Schedule II controlled substance from an incident dating back to 2006, records show. For that, he was given probation.
Bass went back to prison in 2012Â for another 10 months when his probation was revoked on those charges, following a conviction of aiding and abetting felony larceny.
Just four days after that sentence began, Bass was convicted in Moore County on a string of charges: being a habitual felon; identity fraud or theft; breaking and entering vehicles; misdemeanor larceny; financial card fraud; obtaining property by false pretenses; first-degree burglary; assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury; robbery with a dangerous weapon; possession of a Schedule II controlled substance; and felony breaking and entering.
Bass was imprisoned from July 2013 to August 2018 and has had no other convictions in North Carolina since being released.
All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
