ROCKINGHAM — Police seized seven cellphones, a set of scales and a handgun from the home of a suspected heroin dealer.
According to warrants, 45-year-old Michael Markee Wilson was selling heroin and cocaine from his Elizabeth Avenue home.
Wilson is accused of selling the drugs to a confidential informant several times within the past month.
Warrants alledge Wilson sold 0.5 grams of heroin to the informant on Aug. 8 and 22 and again on Sept. 4. He also allegedly sold 0.5 grams of cocaine to the informant on Aug. 14.
Investigators with the Rockingham Police Department applied for and obtained a search warrant, which was served Sept. 9.
According to the inventory sheet, police found and seized the following items during the search: a digital scale; two iPhones; two ZTE flip phones; a Cricket Wireless phone; and Alcatel phone; a Samsung phone; a .22-caliber hollow-point bullet; 9mm ammo; a Taurus 9mm handgun; a holster; a bullet in a closet; and a white paper with the purple letters “KIM” (Keep it moving) located inside a shoe.
Wilson was arrested and charged with: four counts of maintaining a vehicle, dwelling or place for a controlled substance; three counts of possession with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver, heroin; three counts of selling or delivering heroin; and one count each of possession with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver cocaine and selling or delivering cocaine.
Online court records show Wilson is also facing three felony counts each, from the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office, of: selling a Schedule I controlled substance; delivering a Schedule I controlled substance; possession with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver a Schedule I controlled substance; and maintaining a vehicle, dwelling or place for a controlled substance.
He is being held in the Richmond County Jail under a $50,000 secured bond for the RPD charges, a $20,000 secured bond for the RCSO charges, and $13,169.52 secured bond on a show cause order for child support.
Court records show he also has pending charges of driving with a revoked license and misdemeanor marijuana possession.
Wilson is scheduled to appear in court Sept. 26 on all drug and driving charges.
Records with the N.C. Department of Public Safety Division of Adult Correction show Wilson is currently serving a 24-month suspended sentence following a March 11 conviction for conspiracy to possess a Schedule VI controlled substance.
That was his first conviction in two decades.
Before that, Wilson’s most recent conviction was in 1999 for assault on a female.
He was first convicted in 1992 of possession of a Schedule II controlled substance and misdemeanor breaking and entering.
However, his probation was revoked the following year, landing him behind bars for 14 months.
All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
