Maples sworn in as interim superintendent for Richmond County Schools

HAMLET — Dr. Jeffrey Maples was sworn in as Richmond County Schools’ interim superintendent on the morning of Wednesday, Jan 2.

Richmond County Clerk of Superior Court Vickie Daniel administered the oath. 

The ceremony took place in the central office boardroom at 8:30 a.m., marking the official beginning of Maples’ term. Maples’ wife, Deborah Maples, held a Bible for her husband as he placed his left hand on it, raising his right hand to recite the oath. Maples then thanked those in attendance for their support and members of the board of education for giving him the opportunity to serve Richmond County Schools. 

Maples has previously held various leadership positions within RCS, including assistant superintendent of human resources and associate superintendent of curriculum.

On becoming interim superintendent, Maples stated that he looks forward to a continued partnership with the hardworking school administrators, teachers and staff that provide wonderful learning experiences for our students everyday.
