ROCKINGHAM—The City of Rockingham and the Rockingham Police Department will be teaming up to host the annual “National Night Out” event.
Millions from around the country take part in “National Night Out”, the annual community-building campaign that is geared towards building police and community partnerships in an effort to provide a safer community. In years past, this event has also proven to be a great opportunity to bring the local police department and neighbors together.
The event will be held on Tuesday, August 1 from 6:00 until 8:30 pm in the parking lots of City Hall and the Thomas Leath Memorial Library on Rockingham Road. There will be multiple activities at this event, including finger printing for children, a DWI driving course, The Crash Test Dummies, and dunking booth with various Rockingham police officers. The Rockingham Police Department will also have their Traffic Team on sight to distribute information in conjunction with the North Carolina Govenor’s Highway Safety program. Crime Stoppers representatives will be in attendance as well.
A food vendor will be on site and Twisted Treats will be there for the event as well. Kids can enjoy face painting, a rock wall, bounce-house, slide, obstacle course and sports challenge. Finally, a graduation ceremony will be held to honor the cadets who attended and successfully completed the 2017 Junior Fire & Police Academy.
