ROCKINGHAM — Although Saturday’s forecast calls for mostly sunny skies, at least two more weekend events in Richmond County have been called off — but one still has a green light.

The organizers of Carolina Geek Fest, which was slated for Saturday at Cole Auditorium in Hamlet, announced Wednesday morning that the event has been canceled.

“We have been keeping a close eye on hurricane Debby and at this time for the safety of all guest(s), vendors, volunteers and attendees we have decided to cancel the event this weekend,” reads a Facebook post.

The potential for hazardous road conditions on Friday, when many vendors and other attendees would be traveling, is listed as the main concern.

The event was to feature cosplay, at least two anime voice actors and a Mortal Kombat contest.

Pre-sold tickets will be refunded and organizers are unsure if and when the event will be able to be rescheduled.

World Class Elite Wrestling also canceled its show at Falling Creek Gym in Rockingham scheduled for Saturday evening. A new date will be announced soon.

These cancellations come after several were made on Tuesday. Click here to read about those.

As of early afternoon, Rockingham Dragway owners said that Diesels at the Rock “IS STILL A GO” for Saturday.
