The N.C. Department of Transportation is partnering with Raleigh Executive Jetport in Sanford to celebrate two projects.

The new 14,500 square foot terminal building, scheduled to be completed in August of 2019, will enable Sanford and Lee County to recruit future jobs and business opportunities to the region.

The new taxiway is 50 feet wide, allowing larger aircraft to use this airport. It opened for traffic in August.

The brief event will kick off at 9:30 a.m., and feature remarks from Airport Authority Chairman Carter Keller, NCDOT Chief Deputy Secretary David Howard, and State Representative John Sauls. NCDOT Aviation Director Bobby Walston will emcee the event and provide the welcome.

Following the speaking program, dignitaries will participate in a groundbreaking ceremony for the new terminal before heading over to the taxiway for a ribbon-cutting.
