MOORE COUNTY – NC Families United hopes all our state’s families, youth, children and agency partners are safe as we recover from the storm. NC Families United staff are prepared to reach out to help if you have a storm related emergency concerning your family or children receiving services. HIGH POINT OPENS EMERGENCY SHELTER
Red Cross Will Operate Site at High Point Seventh Day Adventist Church

HIGH POINT, N.C. (September 14, 2018) – In anticipation of Hurricane Florence, the City if of High Point and the American Red Cross will open an emergency shelter at the High Point Seventh Day Adventist Church at 279 Eastchester Drive in High Point. The shelter will open at 5 p.m. today, (September 14). The shelter is available to local residents and evacuees from other areas that have been displaced by the storm. Residents are reminded to bring their own pillow and blanket or sleeping bag along with any medications and essential hygiene items. Pets are allowed but will be segregated from the shelter occupants. Accommodations will be made for service animals. For more information, media requests can be directed to Perry Hall, Emergency Manager at 336.883.3364. The Planet Fitness is New Bern is open for anyone in the community who needs a place to get water and a hot shower.

We know many have been negatively effected by hurricane Florence, and Planet Fitness wants to be a community resource as we all work to recover from this weather disaster.

That’s right we have power and hot showers. Anyone, emergency crews, recovery crews, and citizens of New Bern, Craven county, and anyone outside Craven county area are all welcome to use our showers and locker room facilities. Our doors are open to anyone who needs it and it doesn’t matter if you are a member or not. Again, anyone who needs water, shower and locker room facilities is welcome.  We will be open daily from 9am-8pm until further notice.

If you are in the North Carolina Medicaid Lock-in Program and need to change your selected prescriber or pharmacy due to the impact of Hurricane Florence, please contact the NCTracks Pharmacy Call Center at 1-866-246-8505 to request a change to another prescriber or pharmacy available to write and dispense your prescription.

Red Cross is providing hot takeout meals Monday, September 17. Lunch starts 12 noon, supper 530pm. 200 meals, first come, first served. Number of meals provided Tuesday and beyond will be determined by number of meals picked up Monday.
