NCDOT Board commits to funding intersection improvements along U.S. 15-501 in Moore County

PINEHURST — State transportation officials have identified a pair of Moore County intersections for future upgrades.

The N.C. Board of Transportation recently committed to fund safety and mobility improvements where U.S. 15-501 intersects Memorial Drive and Page Road in Pinehurst. A timeline has yet to be established for the project, which is expected to cost about $1.2 million.

Memorial Drive will be widened to add a right turn lane onto southbound U.S. 15-501 with associated signal updates. Page Road will be realigned for a more efficient connection to U.S. 15-501 that will include left and right turn lanes onto U.S. 15-501 and a new traffic signal.

Southbound U.S. 15-501 will be widened to add right turn lanes onto both Page Road and Memorial Drive. Northbound U.S. 15-501 will also be widened for a new left turn lane onto Page Road.

NCDOT will provide updates on the project plans and schedule as the design advances.
